Vancouver Fashion Week Runway Looks

Covergirl Cosmetics

Hey guys, this is part two of my experience at Vancouver Fashion Week. Click here to get the scoop from my previous post.

As one of the beauty correspondents during VFW, I was given the opportunity to go backstage and watch the models glam up. The team of makeup artists and hairstylists worked very hard to complete all the looks for the runway. Each designer had a face chart for the MUA to recreate using COVERGIRL cosmetics.

VFW_009As you can tell from the face charts above, subtle makeup and bold red lips is going to be very popular for Fall/Winter 2014. Almost all the the designers went for this look.

VFW_002

VFW_012This was probably one of my favorite makeup looks that was inspired by the 1940’s-50’s. The models were given nicely defined brows and the eyeshadow look consisted of a neutral cut-crease and winged eyeliner. To finish off the look, the MUA applied the star of the show, CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Tempt 355, to the lips.

VFW_011Again, we have a really simple eye makeup look with bold berry lips. The amazingly luscious lipstick used here was the CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Embrace 335. With a statement lippie like this, it’s important to have a nice clean edge so the MUA applied this creamy lipstick with a lip brush for a precise application.

To create a flawless complexion with a luminous glow, MUA used the Covergirl Trublend Liquid Makeup Foundation with the TrueBlend FlixStick and the NEW Covergirl TruMagic The Luminzer. The Covergirl TruBlend foundation is a water-base formula so it’s great for people with oily or dry skin.  I was given a bottle to try out and so far I’m loving it!

VFW_014And now on to my favorite part– the hair! I asked some of the stylists what their favorite must-have hair products were and almost all of them said the Pantene Anti-humidity Hairspray and the Spot Reboot Dry Shampoo. The maximum hold hairspray is pretty good and it kept my curls defined for the whole day. The dry shampoo is great if you want to refresh your second-day hair but I also saw it being used on models with fine hair to add volume and texture. It doesn’t leave an obvious white film on your hair like other dry shampoos so it’s good in my book!

Hairstylist used the Pantene Anti-humidity  hairspray and the Pantene All-in-one Styling Balm to create polished hair buns and topknots on the models. Watch out for my next video to see how these hairstyles were done. 🙂

VFW_008There were also many braided hairstyles like the braided faux hawk but the ones that really added glam on the runway were the gorgeous chignon updos. Here’s a pretty fanned out chignon.

VFW_015During VFW, I received some COVERGIRL makeup to try out and all I can say is WOW! Some of my favorite things from the “Tru” line are the TruBlend foundation, the TruBlend Fixsticks, and the TruMagic Luminizer. I’m excited to try the new Bombshell Volume mascara and ShineShadow in my upcoming makeup tutorial inspired by the looks in the post. Stay tuned!
